Brief Biography:
MAN Cheuk Fei graduated from the Department of Chinese, University of Hong Kong in 1987. During his study there, he actively participated in different student bodies. In 1986, he was elected the Internal Vice-President of the Students’ Union. From 1988 to 1991, he was Tutor of Old Halls.
From 1990 he started his journalistic career. He first joined Next Magazine as political reporter. Later he became the founding Editor-in-Chief of Teacher Plus, a monthly magazine for Hong Kong educators. In 1992 he joined Hong Kong Economic Journal ( HKEJ ) as Editor/Writer of the Commentary section. He is Chief Editor of HKEJ Monthly since 2001.
In 1999 he obtained his M.Phil in Government & Public Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2000, he was granted both a Knight Fellowship from Stanford University, and a Nieman Fellowship from Harvard University. He finally decided upon spending the year at Stanford.
Mr. MAN has been serving as HKU's Convocation Standing Committee Member and Court Member since 2003, and Council Member since 2007. During his service at Council, he has been a member of the Disciplinary Committee. After the 818 incident in 2011, as a Council elected member, he joined the Review Panel on the Centenary Ceremony Held on August 18. A comprehensive report was published in February, 2012. He is also a member of the Search Committee for the Dean of Dentistry starting from November, 2012.
His other social services include: President of Hong Kong University Graduates Association (HKUGA, 2006-2010); Executive Member of HKUGA Education Foundation; SSB school manager of HKUGA Primary School; Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Federation of Journalists; Advisory Committee Member, Chinese Department of Lingnan University; External Member of the Faculty Advisory Committee of the Faculty of Humanities, Hong Kong Institute of Education.
